IB Diploma Course
IB Diploma stands for International Baccalaureate Programme or IB Programme that the system is common covering more than 125 countries. Its objectives are to improve the educational system that its result is accepted by global universities. This enables diplomats’ child who constantly relocates to other countries to have the educational standard to use their scores for the university admission.
IB Programme classifies its modules into 3 levels which include;
1. Primary Years Programme (PYP) 2. Middle Years Programme (MYP) 3. Diploma Programme (Diploma)
IB is also known to be at the same level of A-Level which is the conjunction between highschool and college/university study.
IB contains 6 main subjects in the programme including;
1. Language A1 2. Second Language 3. Individuals and Societies such as philosophy, economics, and business & management 4. Experimental Sciences such as physics, chemistry, and biology 5. Mathematics and computer sciences 6. Arts and Electives such as visual arts, film, music, dance, and theatre arts
Apart from 6 subjects, 3 additional criteria must be qualified which are;
1. Theory of Knowledge (ToK) which requires the student have at least 100 and essay 1200 – 1600 words 2. Extended Essay (EE) which requires the student to have an essay no more than 4000 words 3. Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) which requires students to have activities at least 50 hour
Creativity stands for creative activities encoraging the student to improve their imagination and creativity
Action refers to sports activities
Service involves social participation in the community
In order to qualify IB Diploma Programme, the student must pass 6 subjects that requires Mathematics and 5 other subjects from 1,2,3,4 or 6 programme.
There are 3 subjects taking Higher Level (HL) exam modules and Standard Level (SL) exam modules that it takes 240 hours to study and 150 hours for SL.
The score is ranged from 1 to 7 in each subject and 3 additional scores from EE and ToK which is 45 marks in total.
*To pass the exam, IB Diploma Programme requires at least 28 marks. *The student who fails the exam does not receive IB Diploma but if the student passes, IB Certificate will be granted.
IB Diploma exam is held twice a year: the first in May and the second in November. There are around 2-3 papers and the student can retake the failed subject no more than 3 times. Only students studying in IB schools are eligible to take IB exam.
Englican International-Thailand opens IB course in Private Class that the subjects consists of:
