คอร์สเรียน IGCSE

IGCSE คือระบบสอบเทียบวุฒิม.6 แบบอังกฤษซึ่งโรงเรียนนานาชาติในไทยที่เรียนในระบบอังกฤษจะใช้ระบบ IGCSE เป็นมาตรฐาน เมื่อสามารถสอบผ่านได้ 5 วิชาและสอบผ่าน AS หรือ A level อีกสามวิชา น้องๆจะสามารถนำผลการสอบไปเทียบโอนวุฒิ ม.6 เพื่อเป็นหลักฐานขอเข้าศึกษาต่อในมหาวิทยาลัยได้

โดยทั่วไประบบการเรียนแบบ IGCSE ในประเทศไทยนิยมเรียนแบบ Home school ซึ่งผู้เรียนสามารถเลือกเรียนได้มากกว่า 5 วิชา แต่ทั้งนี้ IGCSE เป็นเพียงหลักสูตรเบื้องต้น เพื่อปูทางสู่ระบบการเรียนแบบ A level โดยเกรดในระบบนี้ไม่ได้มีนัยสำคัญแต่อย่างใด เพียงแต่การสอบเทียบวุฒิ ม.6 จำเป็นต้องเริ่มด้วย IGCSE เท่านั้นเอง

IGCSE จะมีวิชาให้เลือกสอบหลายวิชามาก แต่วิชาบังคับคือ Mathematics และ ESL ข้อสอบโดยมากเป็นข้อเขียน คือเติมคำหรือบรรยายซึ่งต้องอาศัยความแม่นยำใน ในหลักวิชานั้นๆเป็นอย่างมาก โดย Englican International เปิดติววิชา IGCSE ดังนี้

IGCSE Course

IGCSE is officially known as International General Certificate of Secondary Education mainly focusing on diploma study in several subjects which can be freely chosen by the student. Most international schools aligning to British educational system requires the student to take IGCSE as their passing standard. When the student takes 5 subjects and qualify another 3 subjects in AS or Alevel, the student can refer this score in order to qualify highschool reference for further university admission.

What are the benefits of the IGCSE?

1. The IGCSE is recognized by the Thai Ministry of Education as the equivalent to a Thai high school diploma.
2. Students can choose the subjects and the level of difficulty that they want to take (see Core and Extended Level).
3. Grade C in IGCSE English (both First Language and Second Language) satisfies the English proficiency requirements of a number of universities in the UK and other Anglophone countries.
4. Grade C in both IGCSE and O Level Mathematics satisfies the matriculation requirements of universities in the UK, many Anglophone countries and other countries across the world

The Test IGCSE

The IGCSE is normally held twice a year only:

The Test IGCSE is devided into 2 different levels as follows

1. Core Level is the measurement of the student’s knowledge of a specific subject at a less in-depth level; the number of questions and time allocated for the test are less than those of the Extended Level. The grades that each student can earn are C, D, E, F and G.

2. Extended Level is the compilation of the Core Curriculum and other specific materials; the grades that each student can possibly earn are A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

In Thailand, students can apply to write the IGCSE test at the British Council, which has adopted the University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE); each student has the option to select more than 5 subject tests, but only 5 subjects with a grade of A, B or C can be selected for submission to the Ministry of Education in Thailand in order to be recognized as being the equivalent of a Thai high school diploma.

IGCSE allows the student to have numerous choices of tests; however, there are some subjects requiring every student to take including Mathematics and ESL that questions are not multiple choices but they require to fill in the written words. This needs accuracy of knowledge in each subject principle
